Snowy Owl still at Col. Sam Smith: Feb. 6, 2023

While Saw-whet, Short-eared and Long-eared Owls are not being seen often this winter, you can almost guarantee seeing a Snowy at Col. Sam Smith Park. Likely this is because the owls favourite perch is some distance from land and is safely surrounded by water. It has been warm enough that an excursion out onto the ice for a closer look would be foolish.
