Years ago, I took my son to a junior hockey game in Beauport near Quebec City. The team was called the “Harfang de Beauport”. In English that is a Snowy Owl.

This morning’s group at Col. Sam Smith Park all had a distant view of an “harfang” from several angles.

Great Scaup are often seen in great “rafts” out in the lake.

We were fortunate to find a few very close to shore.

NATURE POETRY
Thou sing’st alone on the bare wintry bough,
As if Spring with its leaves were around thee now;
And its voice that was heard in the laughing rill,
And the breeze as it whispered o’er meadow and hill. – Jones Very (1813–80)
