At Humber Bay, the pond area is being transformed into a more natural habitat. Currently the ponds are being drained which means that the fish within are easily caught. Gulls, Egrets and Herons realize this and are congregating in the area.
Our group this morning was thrilled to see that a Bald Eagle is now also aware of the food possibilities.
Red-tailed Hawks, which we see commonly, have a wing span of about 49 inches. Bald Eagles have a wingspan of about 80 inches.

NATURE POETRY
As mad sexton’s bell, tolling
For earth’s loveliest daughter,
Night’s dumbness breaks rolling
Ghostily:
So our boat breaks the water
Witchingly. – Thomas Lovell Beddoes (1803–49)

Thanks you for a very enjoyable outing Miles. I especially appreciated your grasp of the botanical aspect of the walk. I look forward to joining your group when return..
