The first kilometer of the Casque Isles Trail

This trail follows the north shore of Lake Superior from Terrace Bay to Red Rock. I hiked the first kilometer or so which follows the Aquasebon River to Lake Superior.

At this point, the Aquasebon becomes a falls and then proceeds rapidly through a canyon.

The trail is very well maintained.

Here are some of the plants that I found along the way.

Blue-bead Lily (Clintonia borealis)

Twisted-stalk (Streptopus lanceolatus)

Bunchberry (Cornus canadensis)

Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica)

Sarsaparilla (Aralia nudicaulis)

Pin Cherry (Prunus pensylvanica)

White Birch (Betula papyrifera)

Star-flower (Trientalis borealis)

Shining Clubmoss

Oak Fern

Common Polypody

Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis)

Wild Raisin (Viburnum cassinoides)
