Red-necked Grebe at Humber Bay: Oct. 7, 2022

Normally, Red-necked Grebes do not breed in our area but, because nesting platforms have been put out for them in the last few years, we now see them in most months of the year.

I have photographed this individual during my last few visits to Humber Bay. The red neck, which is so vivid in the breeding season, is now starting to fade.

NATURE POETRY

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
He who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity’s sunrise.             – William Blake (1757–1827)
