For the past few years, I have been photographing birds on an almost daily basis. This morning at Lambton Woods, we came across a very long-billed, brownish bird with stripes on the back wading in the Humber River.

This is a species I have heard thousands of times and frequently seen high in the sky during my annual Breeding Bird Survey trips in Northern Ontario. Never close enough to get a photo.

The birding gods put one right in front of us this morning: a Wilson’s Snipe.
