Some MARAIS DES LAÎCHES Birds: June 2022

Thank heavens for e-bird! After consulting it, I was able to find several good birding spots in the Gatineau region. One of them, MARAIS DES LAÎCHES, is located about a 30 minute drive east of Gatineau.

From the marsh I could hear Pied-billed Grebe

and Wilson Snipe.

In the sky I saw

Turkey Vulture
Common Raven with egg
Ring-billed Gull

Common Yellowthroats are difficult to spot but I heard many.

NATURE POETRY

Merrily swinging on briar and weed,
Near to the nest of his little dame,
Over the mountain-side or mead,
Robert of Lincoln is telling his name:
    Bob-o’-link, bob-o’-link,
    Spink, spank, spink;
Snug and safe is that nest of ours,
Hidden among the summer flowers;
                Chee, chee, chee. – William Cullen Bryant
