High Park Zoo and a Muskrat: Feb 16, 2022

If you are planning on walking on nature trails in the near future, I must warn you that paths are VERY icy; especially on hills.

I had planned to walk in the woods today at High Park and look for the Horned Owl which is often here. It didn’t take long before we realized that this was a very perilous task for anyone without grippers on their boots.

Plan B was to stay on concrete trails and begin with a look at the zoo here.

NATURE POETRY

But Winter has yet brighter scenes—
Come when the rains
Have glazed the snow and clothed the trees with ice,
While the slant of sun of February pours
Into the bowers a flood of light.                         – William Cullen Bryant (1794–1878)
