December Contrasted With August at a Québec Marsh

In August nature is green and full of life.

In December, just about everything has prepared itself for the long winter ahead.

Here are photos from Le Marais de Touraine near Gatineau Québec from both August and December.

NATURE POETRY

SPRING
With March comes in the pleasant spring,
When little birds begin to sing;
To build their nests, to hatch their brood.
With tender care provide them food.

SUMMER
And summer comes with verdant June;
The flowers then are in full bloom,
All nature smiles, the fields look gay;
The weather’s fine to make the hay.

AUTUMN
September comes; the golden corn
By many busy hands is shorn;
Autumn’s ripe fruits, an ample store,
Are gathered in for rich and poor.

WINTER
Winter’s cold frost and northern blast —
This is the season that comes last
The snow has come, the sleigh-bells ring,
And merry boys rejoice and sing. -unknown poet

    Beautiful pictures showing the contrast between two seasons! Thank you, Miles. Be careful on those icy paths!

    Thankfully, winter has its own special kind of beauty. Not so much in the city, perhaps, when things are grey and dirty, but when the snow falls freshly, and in parks and natural places, winter can still be beautiful.
