My Backyard Birds and Magnolia Blossoms: April 2021

With steady rain all day, I took advantage of an hour or so of clear weather to sit on my back porch and photograph some of the bird activity. As you will see, our Magnolia is just coming into bloom.

NATURE POETRY

Look all around thee! How the Spring advances!
New life is playing through the gay, green trees
See how in yonder bower the light leaf dances
To the bird’s tread and the quivering breeze.           – Ludwig Tieck (1773–1853)

Delightful that you can sit in your garden and get such a variety of close up photos of birds Miles.

Do you recommend an app for identifying bird song? This is such an excellent time for trying to place the sounds.

We are certainly enjoying an early spring this year especially seeing how advanced the magnolia blossoms are. Thanks for the bird photos.

Don’t worry – I live next door and she’s my cat and completely useless when it comes to catching anything except stuffed toy mice!

What a wonderful array of birds (and cat and squirrel). Beautiful pictures! Birds and about-to-open magnolia blossoms–what’s not to love? Thanks, Miles!
