The Great Black-back is the largest North American gull.

Great Black-backs are common along the Atlantic coast and are locally common on larger lakes and rivers inland.

The waterway under the Burlington Skyway which connects Hamilton Harbour and Lake Ontario was teeming with bird life on this day.

NATURE POETRY
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow. – Robert Frost (1874ā1963)

Great pictures! It’s interesting to see the Toronto skyline from the Hamilton-Burlington area for a change, rather than the reverse. It seems to me that you have introduced us to a number of ducks and birds that I don’t remember encountering on our group walks (it might be my memory), like the Great Black-backed Gull, the White-winged Scoter and the Eurasian Teal. It is always a pleasure to see and learn about a new bird or duck. Thanks, Miles!
