No Canadian National Exhibition This Year: 2020

This has been a year of NO!

No hugs, no handshakes, no meals in restaurants, no concerts, no theatre, no sporting events, for the children – no school and on and on.

And no CNE. The “Ex” is postponed. I have a great fondness for the CNE and have probably attended every year since my birth. Starting at the tender age of 13, I began working there as a musician — some of it so long ago that I was in orchestras accompanying Vera Lynn and the Jackson 5 back when Michael Jackson was about 9 years old.

As we near the usual CNE time of year, I visited the grounds and here are some images of it. No crowds, no candy floss, no rides, no, no, no.

NATURE POETRY

O’er the meadows all rosy and wide,
Where a lyric of flowers
Is sweet-sung to the frolicking hours,
And the merry buds letter the foot-steps of tip-toeing showers – L.M. Montgomery

Thanks for the memories Miles. The grand old lady is a “no” this year.
Not too many survivors of this pandemic in evidence right now
Very pleased to hear that your walks are back “on” this fall.
    Really missed the spring session.

Great pictures, Miles! The buildings are beautiful, as are the other things you show us. One question: If there is no C.N.E this year, does this mean that summer will never be over? Thanks, Miles.
