White-throated Sparrow by the Don River: Late April 2020

I was unable to photograph the other day due to rain. To make up for that I was out prowling near the Don River just as the sun came up on this morning.

There is a place in South Georgia, near Antarctica, called Gold Harbour. At the beginning of summer there, the sun sets for about one hour and then rises again creating a wonderful golden light.

While working on cruise ships, we would occasionally have a camera club on board and they would want to be ashore at 3 am to take advantage of this light.

Wildlife takes on a colour unlike at any other time of day.

I thought of this today when I saw this robin:

American Robin

White-throated Sparrows summer in Ontario forests from cottage country north to Hudson Bay and they are passing through Toronto now:

NATURE POETRY

Gladness is born of the April weather,
And the heart is as light as a wind-tossed feather.
Who could be sad on a day like this?
The care that vexed us no longer is.    – Eben Eugene Rexford (1848–1916)

Your photos are wonderful. It reminds me of walks I used to take when I was younger. At this time of year there is such an abundance of beauty in the new growth and the water. I love the way you capture this.nit is especially appreciated when we are inside waiting for our chance to burst forth!
    Thanks for this.
