The populations of large cities are not the only cosmopolitan aspect of urban areas these days. Certain tree species are perfectly adapted to life in the city and can be found in large cities all over the world.
While sight seeing in Santiago, I photographed several species which grow quite near my Toronto home.

I also photographed two bird species which are closely related to species found in the Toronto area. The first looks and behaves very much like our American Robin which is a member of the Thrush family. This bird is called the Austral Thrush. I have also seen them in the Falkland Islands.

The second looks very much like our female Red-winged Blackbird.

This is a female Yellow-winged Blackbird.
