a Pekin Duck at Humber Bay / February 6, 2020

Pekin Ducks are a white breed of dabbling duck which was domesticated over 2,000 years ago in Asia. They were bred to produce large eggs, good meat and to be attractive to the eye. Pekin Ducks are mainly found on farms but occasionally one will escape and be found with mallards and other duck species.

NATURE POETRY

A fox the colour of cinnamon whirled into my ken

I thought we might become buddies.

The fox said now and then.

Then he turned with a swish

I did not get my wish.

He decided he would stay with his old friends.

Now I am at loose ends. – Adele Koehnke
