In all of the places that I visit in the Toronto area, the only one which has Buffalo-berry is the beach area at Scarborough Bluffs. Here there are clay stream banks and moist thickets which are perfect habitat for it:

There were thousands of migrating Red-breasted Mergansers far out in the lake:
