I thank Marie Boisvert for these photos taken on a July afternoon at Ashbridges Bay Park. As she was driving into the park, she noticed a large bird on the grass and began taking photos with her phone:



The bird was not alone and was tearing away at a recently caught squirrel.


Eventually the hawk flew to a park bench with the squirrel tightly held in a talon. It became clear from the tail colour that this was a Red-tailed Hawk.



Eventually the Red-tail dropped its prey and paused for digestive purposes.
