
Otters have very long tails; 12 – 17 inches. Head and body measure 26 – 30 inches.
They are rich brown above with a silvery sheen below.
The ears are small and the snout is broad.
They are found along steams and at lake borders,
They are a sociable animal and usually 2 or 3 travel together.
Otters eat fish, frogs, crayfish and other aquatic invertebrates.
Their dens are in banks with the entrance below the water.
