
Otters have very long tails; 12 – 17 inches. Head and body measure 26 – 30 inches.

They are rich brown above with a silvery sheen below.

The ears are small and the snout is broad.

They are found along steams and at lake borders,

They are a sociable animal and usually 2 or 3 travel together.

Otters eat fish, frogs, crayfish and other aquatic invertebrates.

Their dens are in banks with the entrance below the water.

Thanks for the photos. Apparently otters like to dry off their paws when out of the water, and hold up their paws waving them around. When a group of otters are together it looks like they are in a pedicure salon.
