Just east of Birchmount Road and south of Kingston Road, there is a narrow, unmarked paved road which descends the bluffs and allows one to walk a good distance along the bottom. This road was built for construction vehicles as rocks have been brought in to shore up the lake shore. The Red / Green Ash in this photo shows a lot of courage growing in this location.

Many of the trees lining the steep road to the lake are Sycamore Maples which have a distinctive green bud:

I was treated to the constant “Alouette” of Long-tailed Ducks and a single
“tea kettle” call of a Carolina Wren; a species which lives in the bluffs area all year long.

If you walk to the eastern end of the trail, you are rewarded with magnificent views of the most dramatic cliffs of the Scarborough Bluffs:
