Even Tamer Than the Ones in High Park: August 2022

Wood Ducks in the wild flee at the first sight of humans and never allow a close approach.

In High Park, Toronto however, they have decades of time with close proximity to humans and don’t fly off.

This morning I visited Mud Lake in Ottawa and was so close to a group of Wood Ducks that I could have touched some of them. They are obviously used to being fed.
