Deep snow made walking a chore this morning. Try and stay in someone else’s track and avoid falling!
Our group managed very well!
Eventually I decided to keep on plowed paths.
This way we could enjoy the scenery.
We heard and saw the well-named Trumpeter Swans on several occasions:
A few cardinals were also singing – a little earlier than the 4th week of January period when I usually first hear them.
A House Finch gave us a short recital of its rattling melody. My first of the season. Spring can’t be far!

NATURE POETRY
Janus am I; oldest of potentates;
Forward I look, and backward, and below
I count, as god of avenues and gates,
The years that through my portals come and go. – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807–82)
