Here is how Shrubs of Ontario describes the branchlets and buds of Buffalo berry: bright rusty-brown, completely covered with a layer of fine white stellate (like the points of a star) hairs and numerous brown overlapping circular scales.
It was a sunny morning with little wind (good for close-up photography) so I headed to the large beach at Bluffer’s Park to try and photograph Buffalo berry.
This plant is also called Soapberry as a soaplike froth is produced when the fruits are agitated in water.
