By November, Black-crowned Night Herons become scarce although the occasional one will show up in Christmas bird counts.
Our night-heron this morning was a juvenile showing broad, blurry streaks on the breats.

There was considerable excitement when a Yellow-crowned Night Heron, a species which is usually found much south of here, spent many weeks at Col. Sam Smith Park.
