Construction of the Leaside Bridge to connect Leaside and East York was begun in January 1927 and inaugurated on October 29 as the Confederation Bridge, in honour of the sixtieth anniversary of that event.
In the late 1960’s the bridge was widened to support 6 lanes of traffic.
