In summer, the Yellowthroat is one of our most common warblers, usually found in thickets near wet areas.
As they are so often concealed in underbrush. it is their “wichety-wichety-witchety-witch” call which betrays their presence around marches, bogs, and wet areas in fields and on roadsides.

With the middle of May being the best time of the year for colourful birds, I just can’t stay asleep and was out by the lakeshore at dawn. Here is how it looked.
