I headed out early to Col. Sam Smith Park hoping to find an Orchard Oriole. I have had these here in May in the past as you can see from this photo:
No Orchard Oriole but I did have several very colourful birds:
BALTIMORE ORIOLE
MYSTERY BIRD
I will identify it at the end of the post.
CAPE MAY WARBLER
NORTHERN FLICKER
YELLOW WARBLER
AMERICAN GOLDFINCH
More birds:
MYSTERY BIRD
The black and white “bicycle helmet” identifies this as a White-crowned Sparrow.
NATURE POETRY
What does he plant who plants a tree?
He plants cool shade and tender rain,
And seed and bud of days to be,
And years that fade and flush again. – Henry Cuyler Bunner (1855–96)
