This owl is found in the forested areas of both the Old World and America.

The Long-eared Owls looks like a small, slim edition of the Great Horned Owl. but with relatively long ear tufts, placed closer together near the centre of the head.

In 1933, Saunders & Dale noted a gnatcatcher-like squeal “sweah, sweah” by adults when their nest was approached.
