I highly recommend a visit to the Evergreen Brickworks. This area used to be a quarry and now is an expansive setting with beautiful flora and fauna, several large ponds and trails through various habitats.
Some botany:
Some creatures by the pond:
On this day, there were thousands of gloriously flowering Cup Plants and these attracted many insects:
Other insects:
Thanks to Ken Sproule for assistance in insect and frog identification.
NATURE POETRY
In the grey summer garden I shall find you
With day-break and the morning hills behind you.
There will be rain-wet roses; stir of wings;
And down the wood a thrush that wakes and sings. – Siegfried Sassoon (1886–1967)
