A Walk Near Parliament Hill: August 2020

When I was a young teenager, I worked selling popcorn, ice cream bars etc. at the long since demolished Maple Leaf Stadium; the home of the Toronto Maple Leaf Baseball Club.

On one occasion, the Prime Minister of Canada arrived with a group and I was selected to deliver hot dogs and Honey Dews to them. Afterward, John Diefenbaker presented me with a shiny silver dollar and I have been interested in Canadian history ever since.

Today, I spent an enjoyable morning strolling about our nation’s capital.

NATURE POETRY

Summer, fall, winter, spring,
The seasons rotate as each brings
Its special beauty to this Earth of ours.
Winter’s snow and summer’s flowers;
Frozen rivers will flow come spring,
There is a renewal of everything.          – Edna Frohock (1906–97)
