Earl Rowe served as the 20th Lieutenant of Ontario from 1963 to 1968.

Thomas Gordon, the first postmaster, named this community supposedly after his father’s hometown in England. It may instead have been named for a farm or home, because no Everett is shown on modern maps of Britain.
